Apple has officially unveiled a new device which aims to bring online content to the television screen.
The technology giant has improved the treatment – which was first launched in 2006 but sold poorly – by lowering the price and dramatically reducing the size.
As well as bringing online content to the TV screen, the device will allow users to rent their favourite movies and shows from ABC, Fox and Netflix.
Launching the new treatment, Apple Inc co-founder Steve Jobs said: "We think the rest of the studios will see the light and get on board pretty fast."
However, technology website Gizmodo was not so enthusiastic, claiming that the smaller model is not a significant improvement as it is likely to be placed underneath a TV besides.
"Other than more content and less cost, which by all means could have been achieved with the old hardware, this isn't anything close to revolutionary," the website said.
Google has already developed Google TV, which allows users to browse content on the internet via their TV, as well as see programs, films and DVR recordings.
